ACTIVITIES IN EAST CORK

OUTDOORS
There are miles of blue flag beaches at Youghal and Garryvoe, as well as many hidden coves, known only to the locals.
The woodland and cliff walks are constantly being developed and extended.
East Cork offers many top-class golf facilities including Fota, the venue for the Irish Open in 2000 and 2001.
For those interested in horses, there is trekking available and in the Winter months, Point-to Point meetings are held at many venues throughout the area.
There are extensive lake, seashore and deep sea fishing facilities and for those who prefer to just watch, a whale -watching tour is now available.

FOR CHILDREN
There are many beaches in the area, weather permitting.
Trabolgan Holiday Village is a short drive away. Day visitors are welcome.
Fota is a must for visitors, with its Wildlife Park, the House itself and the Arboretum which provides a beautiful setting for walks and play all year around. The trustees have restored the walled garden and rose garden to their former glory.
If the beach at Youghal is not enough for the children, Perks Family Entertainment Centre provides all-weather entertainment with rides, games, bowling lazer and Adventure Centre. Leahys Open farm affords the opportunity to meet farm animals face-to-face and view antique farm machinery.
Bridgefield Buggies provide an opportunity to drive around the farm in quads while older children will also enjoy Kartworld at Watergrasshill. Fat Albert's provides snooker and American Pool facilities in the town and the twin Cinema provides a variety of movies.
Horseriding facilities are available at Dunsfort and Ballyspillane, both within five minutes of the town.
There are a number of children's Summercamps, catering for a variety of interests. Many are booked in advance, but for families intending to stay for a week, it might be an idea to enquire. International Sailing, Cobh provides facilities for water sports and there are a number of sailing courses during the year.

SHOPPING
The town is well-known for its variety of quality stores and if it's quantity you need, we are close to the major shopping malls of the city. There are a number of well-known craft outlets, including the Stephen Pearse Pottery. The Restaurants of the area are of an exceedingly high standard and the Farmers Market on Saturday gives the opportunity to sample the best of local produce.
